Sift Healthcare is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our highly collaborative, growing analytics group. This hire will work with our data science, engineering, and internal technology teams to enhance Sift’s data science, ML Ops, and advanced analytics infrastructure, techniques, and practices.

Sift is transforming healthcare payments by equipping healthcare organizations to fully leverage their payments data to work smarter, protect their margins and accelerate cash. Large health systems, leading HCIT vendors, payers and outsourced revenue management agencies use Sift's Payments Intelligence Platform, ML integrations, advanced analytics and reporting to optimize payment outcomes and enable data-driven decision-making within the revenue cycle.

The Senior Data Scientist is a key member of the Data Science team responsible for improving and enhancing Sift’s ML suite of models and operations to solve complex problems in the healthcare industry. We are seeking a candidate with 5+ years of experience in a data science or machine learning role, with an advanced degree (MS or higher) in a related field. The ideal candidate will have a background in data science and statistics and experience with ML Ops and business intelligence.

A key attribute of the employee will be their ability to test hypotheses and present findings clearly and structured to internal and external stakeholders. As a team member, the employee must develop a deep understanding of the data, provide advanced analysis, and suggest how Sift can improve current ML techniques and infrastructure. The employee is expected to remain up to date with current ML trends.

A Wisconsin resident is preferred for this role. Experience working with PII/PHI/HIPAA data is required. Experience working with healthcare data is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in developing and improving Sift’s current ML products and codebase.
  • Work closely with data science peers and engineers in the CI/CD of Sift’s ML Ops infrastructure.
  • Conduct and assist in code reviews, pipeline development, debugging, and versioning best practices.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Aide in the technical development of data scientists across the team.
  • Work and communicate effectively across teams with engineering and data integrity team members and leadership.
  • Create technical solutions to business problems that generalize/scale beyond the scope of the specific problem.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) plus years of experience working with large disparate data sets, using machine learning to derive business insights.
  • Experience working with temporal, cross-sectional, panel data, and unstructured data.
  • Strong familiarity with the following concepts: tree-based models (Random Forest, GBM,XGBoost, etc.), clustering models (K-means, KNN, KAMILA, DBSCAN, etc.), forecasting (ARIMA, Prophet, etc.), regression, anomaly detection, etc.
  • Experience with explainable AI methods.
  • Experience with ML Ops and model maintenance best practices.
  • Experience with git, including conducting & participating in code reviews.
  • Familiarity with modern deep learning techniques, including NLP, Generative AI, LLMs, Transformers, LSTM, GNNs, etc. Experience with the productization of these techniques is a plus.
  • Extensive Python and SQL experience required.
  • Experience in creating, contributing to, and/or maintaining private and/or open-source Python packages preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced degree (MS or higher) in applied data science, statistics, economics, computer science, computational natural sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience with following are preferred for this role, but are not requirements: R and Java, H2O, AWS, Snowflake and Docker
